Anyone under age 30 may not remember the days that rattan furniture, also known as manila, manau, or malacca, was found in abundance in many homes, though it was mostly confined to porches. It was a style popular in the '70s found in the form of rattan chairs, rattan baskets, rattan patio furniture, and other wicker items. Fast forward several decades later and these unique furniture pieces are making a comeback in a big way. However, nowadays we won’t just see this furniture on porches as the style has become popular indoor furniture. The natural material and beautiful woven technique adds texture and richness to rooms and can suit many styles from rustic, shabby-chic, coastal, or tropical. Best of all, rattan and wicker decor is prevalent at thrift stores and garage sales so you can buy it on the cheap, but if you would like to buy it new then check out Targets latest collection as it’s visually stunning and affordable. Check out the photos below to see for yourself how the comeback of this style is making its way into our homes.

Combined with warm textiles, natural wood, and crisp white walls, this rattan chair brings together a combination of farmhouse and shabby-chic styles.

Warm and cozy. Topped with a galvanized tray, this rattan trunk serves both as storage and as a side table.

This chair and end table compliment this vintage tub and nicely tie this space together.
