The pause that refreshes

Stars Hollow may be a fictional town from the Gilmore Girls, but its charm is similar to one of my favorite go to spots where find myself running to when I need to refresh and find inspiration. Like Stars Hollow, the Town of Blowing Rock is a close-knit community tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, with many quirky characteristics. Each summer, locals and tourists, like myself, walk up and down Main Street, popping into each of the unique shops before lining up for Kilwin's ice cream, where one serving amounts to three scoops. Once you have an ice cream in hand, it's tradition to vie for a comfy bench across the street in the Memorial Park and people watch while enjoying your waffle cone. If you're in need of another local treat, then head over to the nearby Ashe County to try some of their delicious cheese and candy, all locally made. The beautiful nature that surrounds this area evokes a sense of creativity and inspires many artists which tends to show in some of their work. This idyllic town delivers on the charm and makes for the perfect get away. I'm already looking forward to my next trip!
